Report Shows Top Ten Richest People See Half a Trillion-Dollar Wealth Increase Since the Pandemic

A new report by Oxfam has shown that the ten richest men in the world have seen their wealth increase by half a trillion since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic a year ago. Meanwhile, many have lost their jobs with the unemployment rate peaking around 14%. The current unemployment rate is estimated to be 6.2%.

recent report by Oxfam shows that “the world’s ten richest men have seen their combined wealth increase by half a trillion dollars since the pandemic began.” On the other hand, the majority of people have been ushered into “the worst jobs crisis in over 90 years with hundreds of millions of people now underemployed or out of work.” The report was titled “The Inequality Virus” and was published on the opening day of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) ‘Davos Agenda.’

While the coronavirus took jobs and houses from people, Elon Musk surpassed Jeff Bezos as the richest man in the world. Jeff Bezos increased his net worth by 20% thanks to a surge in Amazon sales, and Bill Gates quietly bought up farmland becoming the countries largest farmland owner.

Bill Gates is the Countries Biggest Owner in Farmland

Bill Gates is one of the richest men in the world with a net worth of over $100 billion. He is now also America’s biggest private farmland owner, but he is not the biggest individual landowner.

Bill Gates owns around 242,000 acres of farmland, 52,000 acres than the next largest farmland owner in America. His farmland making up around 378 square miles, is equivalent to 39,325 football fields.

“It was Eric O’Keefe from the Land Report who ferreted out the story after reading that 14,500 acres of choice farmland in Benton County, Washington, had been sold for $171 million, or nearly $12,000 per acre. O’Keefe describes the area as “some of the richest farmland in the Lower 48,” that “savvy investors have been plowing millions of dollars into.‘”

FDA Stops Bill Gates COVID-19 Testing Program

The FDA halted coronavirus testing started by Bill Gates and Seattle health officials pending further review. Gates’ program was sending testing kits to people’s homes in an attempt to achieve the level of testing the government says is necessary to safely begin reopening the country. Seattle health officials say the FDA asked them to halt testing to receive additional authorizations, but Seattle health officials say their testing procedures are safe.

The FDA has said they are concerned about the accuracy of at-home tests, whereas Bill Gates has said at-home testing “could help improve the understanding of the outbreak.” The Hill reported on this saying:

The pause is emblematic of the fractured national response to the coronavirus, with federal officials proposing guidelines but leaving much of the implementation and administration of tests to states and localities.
