Keith Olbermann Calls Those are Unvaccinated “Snowflakes”

In a recent social media post, Keith Olbermann called out those who are unvaccinated, calling them “snowflakes” and “scared”. Snowflakes is generally a term used by conservatives to describe “soft”, or “weak” liberals.

Ironically, Olbermann is using this language to insult conservatives when in reality, in his home New York City, 72% of young black people remain unvaccinated.

In addition to young black people, many other groups of people remain hesitant to get the vaccine, including nurses.

People in power continue to try to pit the vaccinated against the unvaccinated as people, both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals continue to suffer from the effects of Covid-19.

Instead of shaming those who are unvaccinated, it may be time to consider why there are still so many people out there who are hesitant or unwilling to get vaccinated.

The Jimmy Dore video below shares clips of Olbermann’s recent social media post, along with additional (hilarious) commentary.

Iceland Says Herd Immunity Must be Reached Through Transmission

Iceland’s chief epidemiologist recently said herd immunity could not be achieved through vaccination. Despite vaccinating 71% of the population Iceland is seeing a spike in cases.

They are seeing a lower hospitalization rate than previous spikes, and have not seen any deaths in their current spike.

Iceland does plan to offer a third booster dose to high-risk/elderly groups.

In a public radio interview, the chief epidemiologist says herd immunity must be achieved through transmission, not vaccination.

He later walked back these comments saying curbing infections is the goal.

Some countries like Isreal are seeing the vaccine wear off after 6-8 months, Iceland, however, vaccinated recently, is still seeing a spike in cases.

Joe Rogan Tests Positive For Covid-19

Joe Rogan announced that he tested positive for Covid-19.

“Just to be cautious, I separated from my family, slept in a different part of the house, and throughout the night I got fevers and sweats,” he said. ” And I knew what was going on. So I got up in the morning, got tested — and turns out I got covid.”

Rogan reported that his symptoms were mild, he only felt sick for one day, and by day three he was feeling back to normal.

Rogan reported using ivermectin to treat his symptoms, which is not an approved treatment by the FDA.

Rogan is not vaccinated and has talked openly about his hesitancy towards the vaccine. Rogan does not call himself an anti-vaxxer but is critical of vaccine mandates.

OLM does not recommend Ivermectin or other pharmaceuticals for the treatment of Covid-19, we recommend the gut health approach. For more information read this article.

New Study Finds Majority of Our Calories Come from Ultra Processed foods

A study published in the medical journal JAMA has shown that children and adolescents ages 2-19 get most of their calories from ultra-processed foods.

Two-thirds, 67% of calories consumed by this age group in 2018 came from foods like frozen pizza, microwave meals, chips, and sweets. This is a 6% increase from 1999.

This widespread reliance on junk food is an increasing public health concern as the obesity rate has been rising steadily among U.S. youths for the past two decades.

If You Think Kids Are Eating Mostly Junk Food, A New Study Finds You’re Right

Researchers analyzed the diets of 33,795 people. The authors of the study point out one reason this is particularly concerning is due to the fact that adolescents are at a critical age for developing dietary habits that carry into adulthood.

In this time period that the consumption of processed foods increased the consumption of unprocessed foods decreased to 23.5%.

Ready-to-eat meals increased in consumption from 2.2% to 11.2%, the greatest increase. Packaged sweets increased from 10.6% of calories to 12.9% of calorie consumption.

While the growth in consumption of highly processed foods was higher for black, non-Hispanic youth, researchers found education level or income level didn’t affect consumption of ultra-processed foods.

On a positive note, the consumption of sugary beverages dropped from 10.8% of overall calories to 5.3% of overall calories. Researchers suggest this could be due to efforts to educate about the effects of sugary drinks on your health.

Will We See a Surge in Vaccine Mandates Now That the Pfizer Vaccine has been approved?

There’s been a surge in vaccine mandates following the news of the FDA approval of the Covid-19 Pfizer vaccine.

In Israel, the majority of the population (60% including children) are fully vaccinated. Yet we’re still seeing a large number of cases amongst the vaccinated. Around 60% of Israel’s cases are among the vaccinated.

Iceland is recently vaccinated but is currently seeing more cases of covid than they ever have.

In a recent outbreak in Massachusetts, the CDC reports 74% of those infected were vaccinated.

The majority of the data suggests that the vaccine does not stop or slow the spread of the virus.

Vaccine mandates should not be put in place when the vaccine really doesn’t prevent the spread from person to person. If you choose to get vaccinated, in theory, you’re really only protecting yourself.

Additionally, the manufactures of the vaccines are not liable for any adverse reactions caused by the vaccine.

FDA Approves First Covid-19 Vaccine

On August 23rd the FDA approved the Pfizer biotech vaccine. The vaccine is approved for Covid prevention for those 16 and older but is still authorized for emergency use for children 12-15. The vaccine is also authorized for emergency use of a third dose for those who are immunocompromised.

The vaccine was originally authorized for emergency use on December 11th, 2020 for those 16 and older, and was authorized on May 10th, 2021 for children 12 and up.

The FDA’s approval of this vaccine is a milestone as we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. While this and other vaccines have met the FDA’s rigorous, scientific standards for emergency use authorization, as the first FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccine, the public can be very confident that this vaccine meets the high standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality the FDA requires of an approved product,” said Acting FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock, M.D. “While millions of people have already safely received COVID-19 vaccines, we recognize that for some, the FDA approval of a vaccine may now instill additional confidence to get vaccinated. Today’s milestone puts us one step closer to altering the course of this pandemic in the U.S.

Not only have the Covid-19 vaccines been developed faster than any other vaccine, the Pfizer vaccine has been FDA-approved faster than any other vaccine.

Protestors were standing with picket signs to denounce pushes for vaccines.

Anti-vaxxers and those who refuse the vaccine have been criminalized by the media and those who are encouraging everyone else to get vaccinated.

If the vaccine is as safe and effective as it claims to be, then why are there so many health care workers who are refusing the vaccine?

Across New York, the majority of the state’s more than 600,000 health care workers are vaccinated, but many are not. To date, 75% of the state’s roughly 450,000 hospital workers, 74% of the state’s 30,000 adult care facility workers and 68% of the state’s 145,500 nursing home workers have been fully vaccinated, the state said.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that all health care workers in New York needed to be vaccinated by September 27th with expectations for those with medical or religious exemptions.
